British Transplant Games - 25th - 28th August 2005
Update......
Aaron Gray, Will's mate from the the Birmingham Children's Hospital team also did well at the Games. Nine year old Aaron had a liver/small bowel transplant five years ago and hasn't looked back since. He is pictured here proudly showing off his two bronze medals - one for table tennis, the other for the obstacle course (click on the image to see a larger version). When he wasn't winning medals, Aaron was entertaining the crowd with his somersaults, headspins and floor dives!! Please take a look at Aaron's own website - Aaron's Gift of Life
When Daniel was in Birmingham Children's Hospital, his family met Will Tweedy who had a liver/small bowel transplant last August.
Will has done brilliantly since his transplant and has just spent the Bank Holiday weekend taking part in the British Transplant Games. The Games was a fantastic event with lots of sporting action and socialising too. Not only did Will win a bronze medal in the team tug of war, but he (along with his brother Josh and one of his mates) also came third in the Stars in their Eyes Competition!! Will also took part in the table tennis and just missed out by match point in two games.
Birmingham Children's Hospital as a team did magnificently, winning best team for the 10th year running. Congratulations to all those who took part in this year's event. Next year, the Games is being hosted in Bath - so watch this space. Here are some photo's of the day (Thanks Lorraine!)
