Jade's Running for GOSH

TPN27 March 10 - raising money for GOSH in memory of Daniel

We first met Jade five years ago when she was rushed to Rainforest Ward at GOSH. At the time her body was starting to shut down and her Mum was told she had 72 hours left to live.

Thanks to the amazing team at GOSH, Jade is now 18 and will soon be starting Uni to study to be a pediatric nurse specializing in intensive care (hopefully at Great Ormond Street Hospital one day!!)

Jade will be taking part in the London Marathon this year to raise funds for GOSH. We are really thrilled and touched to hear that Jade is running in memory of Daniel.

In Jade's own words,

If it wasn't for my family, GOSH and Daniel- I wouldn't be here. My mam stayed with me every day, sleeping by my hospital bed- her bravery is unexplainable. For the days mam was resting, I had Daniel.

Daniel Courtney was 11 months old and had never left a hospital from when he was born, his crib was directly opposite my bed and we were the only two on the ward. I often would hear him laughing and the nurses coo-ing lovingly at him whilst changing his drip, his bubbly personality was contagious. I would often get wheeled over to sit with him whilst my bed was being made and he was the first person that made me smile after everything. I still stand today, that his courage gave me mine. This little boy, was the light in my darkness and whenever the sun shines I know he is never too far away. Rest in peace gorgeous boy x

BACK

Daniel CourtneyDaniel was lucky to have received two transplants in his short lifetime. As Daniel's family we will always be grateful to two very special families who gave Daniel such an incredible gift. Raising awareness of the need for more people to sign the Organ Donor Register is very important to us.
