jo courtney - daniel's mum
I feel privileged to have been Daniel's Mum. He was an absolutely wonderful little boy and incredibly special to me. I am so proud and humbled by the way he remained so cheerful despite everything he went through - he was truly inspirational! He had the most amazing ability to cheer up everyone's day with his beaming smile and charming personality. This Charity is our way of paying tribute to Daniel and keeping his memory alive. We are determined to raise enough money to fund research into isolating the gene responsible for Microvillous Atrophy, with the ultimate goal of finding a cure for this devastating condition. |

We also hope that Daniel's story will encourage people to sign up to the organ donor register and discuss their wishes with their family. On behalf of everyone who knew and loved Daniel, I would like to pay tribute to Daniel's organ donors and their courageous and generous families. Organ donation is the ultimate gift. I would also like to thank everyone at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Birmingham Children's Hospital who cared for Daniel, and everyone at Edward House who looked after us as a family. We will always be grateful.
Jo - December 05
Daniel was lucky to have received two transplants in his short lifetime. As Daniel's family we will always be grateful to two very special families who gave Daniel such an incredible gift. Raising awareness of the need for more people to sign the Organ Donor Register is very important to us.
