The Daniel Courtney Trust

The Daniel Courtney Trust logo was designed by Mark - Daniel's Dad - and was inspired by Daniel's love of balloons.....

Daniel loved balloons - he was rarely seen without one... on one famous occasion he had around twenty Great Ormond Street Helium balloons floating above his cot! The balloons had been donated to the ward following a function at the Hospital. Daniel was initially given a couple to play with, but by the next day he had somehow managed to persuade the nurses that he should have them all!

At Daniel's celebration, we released sixteen white balloons (one for each month of his life) over the beautiful Shropshire hills. Some of the balloons were dedicated to Daniel from his family and friends, others were dedicated to the very special people who had touched Daniel's life and our lives - his many friends who had so sadly lost their battle for life, his liver donor and his liver-bowel donor and their courageous and generous families, GOSH, Birmingham Children's Hospital and Edward House. It was an incredibly poignant moment when the balloons were released by William Tweedy, who had a liver-bowel transplant in August 2004 and was good friends with Daniel.

The picture of the balloon release is seen as a reflection in our charity logo as a tribute to Daniel and the very special people mentioned above.
